He has served thousands of patients, using a metabolic model for health, at his clinics in Orange County, CA, Austin, TX and formerly at LaValle Metabolic Institute, in Cincinnati Ohio. He taught for 18 years as an appointed adjunct faculty member at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy pioneering the course “Survey of Natural Medicine”, served as faculty at the College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, also while serving as a preceptorship for both physicians and pharmacy students. He is former faculty at the New York College of Chiropractic and Oriental Medicine as an instructor in the Master of Nutrition program as well as Adjunct Faculty for the Masters of Integrative Medicine program at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
As the clinical co-chair at the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine(A4M), he has trained thousands of health care professionals on the value of integrative health programs for health optimization and performance, modeling health care practices to incorporate lifestyle, diet and natural therapies, bioidentical hormone therapies and other integrative care as part of the health equation for Americans.
He is Chair of the International Peptide Society where he organizes and educates physicians and allied health care professionals on various application of peptide therapies including applications in aesthetics, IV therapy, weight management and performance health.
LaValle gained national recognition as National Clinician of the Year in 2012 by the Natural Products Association for his pioneering work in furthering the professional standards of integrative care, and in 2017 as Educator of the Year for American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Jim was named one of the “50 Most Influential Pharmacists” by American Druggist magazine and was one of nine Americans selected by Senator Tom Harkin, to participate in the inaugural Dietary Supplement Education Alliance & Dietary Supplement Information Bureau. As such, he is often called on by media for interviews on a variety of health topics due to his
expertise and engaging style.
He is author of more than 26 books including, “Cracking the Metabolic
Code,” “Nutritional Cost of Drugs,” “Your Blood Never Lies”. and his latest book, Peptide Handbook, A Professional’s Guide to Peptide Therapeutics. In addition, he has authored 20 e-Books and four databases with information on a variety of topics, ranging from natural therapeutic decision tools, herb drug interactions, drug induced nutrient depletion, and professional monographs on 240 vitamin, mineral, nutraceuticals, and herbal compounds. He has also authored well over 200 articles, as well as being published in peer-reviewed literature. This year he will release, Optimizing Athletic Performance through Precision Biomarker Evaluation and “Turning Back the Clock”, Combatting Metaflammation and Inflammaging to Maximize Longevity and Performance Health.
In 2010, Jim and his team developed personalized weight loss and wellness programs for Life Time using his Metabolic Code approach for health and wellness. He was the clinical director for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Performance Health Program. Organizations including Corvette Race Team, Orlando Magic, Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, Golden State Warriors, Austin FS, and Colorado Rapids have relied on his expertise for performance, resiliency and return to play programs. He also works with first responders and military educating on program develop to maximize recovery and readiness.
He is currently acting as Chief Science Officer for Life Time and the clinical program coordinator with the Miora Longevity and Performance Centers within Life Time facilities.
